Oatman The oldest building still in use today in Mohave Valley is the honeymoon spot of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, the Oatman Hotel. Oatman is just a few miles outside of Fort Mohave on old Route 66. Wild burros roam the streets and on weekends staged gunfights echo off the mountains. Oatman was once a promising community but was named a ghost town after the gold mine closed in 1942. Although people now inhabit Oatman, it still holds the title of Ghost Town.
Lake Havasu City Piece by piece the London Bridge was transported to its location in Lake Havasu City. And piece by peice it was put back together creating the perfect place for The Engish Village. Gift shops and pubs are not hard to come by in this area. But Lake Havasu has more to offer than a historical bridge, the lake and beaches themselves are enough to draw visitors from all different kinds of places. California lies opposite Lake Havasu City making it a very popular summer destination. Lake Havasu is roughly 70 miles south of Bullhead City.
Katherine's Landing/Lake MohaveBr> During the summer, Katherine's Boat Launch is swarming with sunburnt, smiling people enjoying the great outdoors and warm weather. And during the winter, hikers and fishermen find their way to the best hikes and fishing spots around. Also near Katherine's Landing is Telephone Cove and Princess Cove. These two boat launches are not developed like Katherine's Landing, but they serve as a calmer means to launching and loading.
Grand Canyon and Sedona Jumping on I-40 and heading east for about three to four hours will land you in the Grand Canyon and Sedona areas. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Cayon, draws in people worldwide. It was once said that seeing a sunrise at the Grand Canyon is like seeing the first sunrise. Located at the bottom of this marvel is Phantom Ranch which hosts a hotel; you can also plan for a 3-10 day whitewater rafting trip down the Colorado River.
Sedona with its red rocks and steep cliff walls draws the second highest tourist number in the state. Nearby is Oak Creek Canyon which is near "Slide Rock." Here, visitors put on their swim suits and life-jackets to slide down the slippery rocks in the stream running through the canyon.
